The Board of Directors of Workplace Safety North has confirmed Mike Parent, CRSP, CSP, as its president and CEO. Parent had served in the interim position since September 2023 and now officially steps into the role.

Parent’s diverse background includes experience as a paramedic, miner, mine rescue volunteer, and mining health and safety manager. Since joining WSN in 2015, he has played a crucial role, notably as vice-president of health and safety services and as interim president and CEO. Known for his collaborative approach, Parent has earned a strong reputation within Ontario’s prevention system. His vision for WSN involves advancing a strategic plan focused on maintaining and enhancing the safety and well-being of all workers.

“I entered the health and safety field to make a difference,” Parent stated. “Now, as president and CEO, I have the chance to impact safety on a provincial scale.”

In his previous role as a senior leader, Parent managed a team of mining health and safety consultants, trainers, and specialists. His industry expertise will drive innovation in the provincial mine rescue program and the development of health and safety products, training programs, and outreach initiatives for Ontario’s mining and forest products sectors.
